Today Madelyn turned TWO!

A Poem for Madelyn on her 2nd Birthday

Twinkle Twinkle little star
Do you know how very precious you are?
Our little teapot with her handle and spout
Getting all steamed up and letting it out!
Sweet, sweet Madelyn, our little Miss Muffet
Singing and talking while you sit on your tuffet

Reminiscing about our little girl
We can only smile
To think of how you’ve grown
In your unique and funny style

I think about your pretty hair

It takes mommy an hour to put a barret there!
Delightful & Darling
The outfits you wear
As you strip off another,
It’s just so much fun to be in the bare!

Little Red Boots and a silly hat
“We have to wear the right suit,
While chasing the cat!”

Elmo and Oswald were some buddies this year
“Giraffes can’t Dance” and “Peek in My Pocket”
Are the books you hold dear

You’ve Tee Teed in the potty, what a big girl you are!
Your little face lights up to see how proud we are!
You get Smarties as a prize. You count them one, two, three
There’s a sparkle in your eye as you ask for “more tandy?”

Late at night, tucked in bed
We hear a faint pitter-patter, a doorknob turning
Round the door peeks your little head
With a grin, and a late night yearning
For one more book, one more song,
Just one more hug, cause the nights so long

As I rock, your sweet head resting on my shoulder
I realize tonight your one-year-older
Quietly we rock to and fro
Quietly I face the truth I know…

Someday times like this will come to an end
And you’ll say good-bye to childhood friends
Like your blanket & pie, tried and true
That was once such a part of you…

I delight to see you grow up, my dear
But sometimes I’d like to hold this moment right here.

So grow up my darling, you have our blessing
To continue learning and growing, trying and testing
Daddy and I will do our best to let you fly
And catch you when you fall

And with God as our guide,
To give you our all
That’s all we can do, to love with full measure
Our precious child, our one earthly treasure

So Happy Birthday our two-year-old lovable Miss
And be sure to save us a kiss!

We love you,

Mommy and Daddy

"Tell me this isn't True! She CANT be turning TWO!"

It's sad but true...Madelyn will be two years old! I just can't believe it! Here is her birthday invite. I got a friends sister to design it for me for very cheep! She (Jenny Dixon) has started a page on etsy.com where she is selling birthday invitations, birth announcements, save the dates, we've moved cards, and she will be adding other things including gift enclosure cards. All of the money she makes on these will go directly toward their adoption. check out her page at www.jennydixon.etsy.com We are not having a big party, only family...Maybe when she starts school we'll have a "real" birthday party.

This Little Lady is a Daddy's Girl!

Let's just say that Madelyn has a tight grip on her daddy's heart! He was about to make a run to the store for a few things. Madelyn saw that he was leaving. She goes and jumps in the drivers side and pretends to drive! He was NOT intending to take her... After he got her out of the car, she was standing there with me. I was trying to get her to wave "bye, bye" to him but all she did was cry... Shane got out of the car and put her in her car seat~!
funny girl! This picture should tell you that children watch everything that you do!
(She was trying to put on the seat belt!")
In this picture you can tell see that she had been crying!
but...she "turned it off" quickly and started smiling as soon as she was sitting in her seat!

Memorial Day Swimming

She was SO excited to go swimming! She loves water! She is learning how to blow bubbles with her mouth under the water. The only problem we're having is she won't close her mouth! She's SO happy to be in the water that she won't stop smiling!
She was kicking those legs with some encouragement from
Nino, Beebs, Joe Joe, Mommy and Daddy!

Evening at the Shoe's House

Jenny and Matt have the neatest playground right up the hill from their house. Madelyn has the best time there!

"Sing...Sing Song!"

In the last two weeks Madelyn has really been singing! She loves the Sesame Street song call "SING"...you know that one that goes ..."Sing...Sing a Song. Sing out loud, sing out strong!" She particularly likes the part when it says "Sing of Happy not Sad!" She has even gotten a little creative with it and puts peoples names in the verse!!! like..."Elsie happy, not sad!"

Where sidewalk chalk does not belong!

We have been outside A LOT lately! We slather ourselves with sunscreen and stay out all day!
One of the things we love to play with outside is sidewalk chalk! Although I think she has been wanting to express her artistic abilities on other canvases!...um like herself!! (as long as it's not a tattoo!)
The house...
She even thought a living, breathing, walking canvas would be good!...Poor Elsie!

A Day at the Zoo!

We decided to go to the zoo! W hat perfect day it was too! The temp. was 70 degrees. It was a even a little chilly at times too... We also brought a picnic which Maddie thought was to funny! I guess it was a little out of the norm to eat outside!
The Nashville Zoo has a great Jungle Gym area to play in. It is divided into two different sections so that the big kids have an area and so do the little ones!

My Favorite! What Beautiful, graceful animals!

"Divine Swine" was the label on the wild Red River Hogs! They did not smell so Divine though!

Maddie wanted SO badly to touch the birds!
They were BEAUTIFUL!!

"Tim McCaw!" That is what our zoo calls them...We also have "Little Jimmy Gibbons", and "Zebra McEntire!"

When we got there the Gibbons had just eaten so they were ready to make some noise!
