"Ride Em Cowgirls!"

This is Sophie(Maddies cousin) and Madelyn playing on a horse. They are 3 months apart(almost to the day). Both girls are talkers and play pretty well together.

"Who's Afraid of the Big Bad "Woof?"

Certainly not Miles..

We were taking a break from moving things from our old shed to out new one when we noticed that Miles wasn't running away from Elsie like he normally does. I guess he thought he'd been chased around enough.

This song still makes me tear up.....

This is Shane. While Nat was scouring YouTube. for Homaa, I found this video of my favorite Sesame Street song. I never pass up an opportunity to put this video on a blog or webpage. And if you catch me in a good mood, I might just sing it for you....in an Ernie voice of course.

That's Not Homer!

This is one of Maddie's favorite Sesame Street skits. Shane and I find ourselves singing this song all through the day. Instead of Homer we add a bit of Southern twang to it and pronounce it Homaa. You should try it sometime.

Our Little Helper/ Silly Pictures

Saturday afternoon Shane and I worked on clearing out shrubbery and such along the fence. After we cut some, we would take it down to the road for the city to pick up. After two rounds I turn around and notice that Madelyn has grabbed a branch and is following us down the driveway! She was mimicking us! Which is a welcome change to how Madelyn usually helps us. Unfolding already folded laundry. Reorganizing the tupperware under the counter after we have put it up. Giving Elsie another chew toy that happens to be the spatula from her Melissa & Doug kitchen set. Yes I can say that this is the most helpful she has ever been.

Silly Sunday morning pictures!
"See my Teeth?"
"I am berry sweet!" - this is what Nino says to her. That is why I got these pjs!"I'm going to get YOU!"

"Summer Saturdays:An Apple for the Teacher- Chicken for the Preacher"

This was the title for todays Summer Saturday. Every Saturday in the summer the Tennessee Agricultural Center(one mile from our house) has a different theme for children to learn about and experience. It's very "hands on". This was our first time to go and Madelyn liked it! The weather is strangely cool so we thought we should go check it out! We sampled different apples from the orchard, learned how too make apple pomander, and Maddie also finger painted green, yellow, and red apples onto a picture of a bare apple tree. The TAC also has an extensive collection of home and farm artifacts from the 19th and early 20th centuries to look at. We also visited an observation bee hive where we saw the queen and her workers (she was marked with a pink dot).
Afterwards we walked into the stables to see the police horses. Downtown Nashville has policemen that ride the horse. They are kept at the agricultural center until it's working time. We petted one today named "Peace".
This is a steam engine.

"I Love You Forever"

Every night Madelyn goes down at 8:30. Right before I go to bed I always check on her. Just to make sure her face is not too close to the bumper pads or her blanket is not over her head. I even place pacies near her head so that she can find them in the night....yes...I've become that mom! As I tip-toed in the other night it made me think about the book "I Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. The mother would crawl in her sons room every night to sing and to rock him. Too sweet! Here is an excerpt from the book:

"But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."

Here is a video I took last night..

When I look at her asleep so peacefully in her bed at makes me think how incredible blessed Shane and I are to have such a sweet and perfect little girl. You tend to forget everything that happened in the day that made you want to pull your hair out. I Love her!

It's HOT and you NEED a Pool!

I got a little scare today! Madelyn and I were watering our plants outside when she decided to go for a little cooling in Elsie's water bowl...In the past Maddie has dunked toys into Elsies water bucket but has never even tried to get in! After the fact I decided to go ahead and take her clothes off. Let's just say that diaper can hold lots of fluid! Here are a few videos! (Warning nudity ahead..not too bad though...I'm good at covering!)

*Saturday...In The Park..Hotter Than The Fourth Of July!" LITERALLY!

We got up this morning and went to the Granny White Park. Madelyn loved chasing after the other children! She liked being around the older kiddos! It was so hot that we only got to stay for an hour, but that was enough for her. She came home, ate lunch, and went to bed for a 3 1/2 hour nap!

We did not slide very much...Her chubby, sweaty legs were rubbing against the slide!

mid-yawn!
