Madelyn learned part of the Old Testament for Church. She went and said them for Mrs. Mellisa on Wed. night and got a piece of candy! We are SO very proud of her!

~Sweet Laughter~

I absolutely love to hear my children laugh! It make my heart smile;)

~Donuts with Dads~

On Tuesday Maddies school had Donuts with Dad Day! Madelyn (and Shane) were SO excited! Shane said when he first walked in that she was a little shy like she knew that him being there was "out of the norm" but she very quickly came around and started telling all of her classmates that this was her daddy! He said it was so sweet to watch!
(Madelyn, Charlotte, Sawyer, Izzy and Caroline)
Madelyn with all of her giggly girl friends.
She loves her friends and talks about them all the time!

Miss Stephany told Shane that this was Maddie's favorite book!
Such a big girl! Sippy cup NO MORE! YIPPEE!
The best part of the party was what the kids had filled out about their dads the week before! Mrs. Stephany said that Madelyn was the only one that gave a high number for her dads age. All the rest of the dads are 3 &4 years old according to the kidos! We thought this was to funny because we've been talking about the fact that daddy is about to turn 30 this week!
The last line almost made Shane cry...So sweet!

This Moment.

I had been working on laundry all morning. Shane was working on 3 editing projects at once.
We needed a break.

So we decided to take some time out for this.
They say that these moments fly by.
They say that I will look back in 20 years and wonder where the time went.
They say that I should treasure every moment.
They are right, and I'm glad I listened.

Yep...We're on the move!

It's true folks! Murphy is crawling everywhere now! Today I walked out of the kitchen to find him chasing after Madelyn wind-up chicken! He is 6 months and 5 days old!
TOO EARLY FOR MOMMY! I need my baby to stay little:(

6 Month Well Visit

Murphy had his doctor visit today. We told Dr. Godfrey about Murphy not liking rice cereal AT ALL and that he is still exclusively breast feeding. He just said that there are some babies that just never eat cereal and that we could just start baby foods. Funny thing is, Murphy doesn't really like baby food either...The other night I had prepared butter beans for dinner so I decided to mush some up some between my fingers and put it in his mouth. He thought it was umm...okay. He ate 6-7 of them. Then he decided that he had enough and just wanted to nurse.

He asked if he had started rolling over. We said yes...and sitting up and trying to crawl and pulling up everywhere! Needless to say Dr. Godfrey was a little shocked! He said
"WOW, this little guy is keeping you guys on your toes!"
Yep he is!
He also said that Murphy is not 100% boy, he is 1,000% boy!

His stats were:
Weight 16 lb. 8 oz. (45%)
Height 26 1/2 inches (50%)
Head Circumference 17 1/2 inches (75%)
Poor little guy also got 4 shots (included flu shot)and Rota virus Vaccine given orally.
Wanted to post this because you can kinda see his teeth!
(He was upset because he hurt his head. He won't be still on the changing table!)

~6 Months Old~

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY Murphy!!
My goodness gracious where does time go?! It's SO hard to believe that you have been with us for 6 months now!

This has been a very busy month for you! You have grown so much and have achieved A LOT!

~You started sitting up all by yourself which seemed to have happened overnight!
~Your first two teeth popped up just two days apart!
~Lately, you've started getting scared of strangers...
~You LOVE for your mommy to hold you and have a very specific whine/cry to get my attention if someone else has you! You, my sweet baby, are a mama's boy!
~You LOVE playing Peek-A-Boo!
~You are Oh-SO ticklish!
~You pull up on everything now!
~You're So close to crawling!
~Your still not eating solids but that's quite all right with us;)
~You play with mommy's face and hair while nursing. Mommy loves this and enjoys every minute!
~You're such a Jolly Little Fella!
~You are nuts about your silky blankets, You rub your face into them...so sweet!
~You are a VERY BUSY baby! Always on the move!
~You love bath time!
~You sleep with Scout and your Cloud B Giraffe!
~Your favorite toy right now is "Follow Me Fred!"
~You got your first bobo...you busted your nose:(
~You love playing on the floor with your toys and thinks it's more fun if Maddie joins you!
~Your such a wiggle worm when we change you!
~You still love the sling!
~You mimic us when we cough. This makes your big sister laugh and makes mommy and daddy laugh even harder to watch the two of you!!
~As soon as we pick you up, you put your legs and feet in the "hip sitting " position before you even get there! (Your like a little monkey!)

Sweet Murphy, you are such a blessing to our family!

Why Delay Solids?

Well...We've tried feeding Murphy baby cereal several times and he still HATES it! Gags at every bite! Turns his head in other directions! Chokes on it EVERY time! I hate to do this to him! I've tried everything! Mixing it with breast milk that had been frozen , mixing it with freshly pumped breast milk, mixing it with warm water, changed the consistency, I've even tried mixing it with apple baby foods...he still hates it...so I started researching and found out that we do not have to start solids now. In fact, we shouldn't as long as baby is completely satisfied with moms' breast milk!

There are SO many reasons to continue exclusively breastfeeding Murphy.
  • ~Delaying solids gives baby greater protection from illness.
  • ~Delaying solids gives baby's digestive system time to mature
  • ~Delaying solids decreases the risk of food allergies.
  • ~Delaying solids helps to protect baby from iron-deficiency anemia.
  • ~Delaying solids helps to protect baby from future obesity.
  • ~Delaying solids helps mom to maintain her milk supply.
  • ~Delaying solids makes starting solids easier.

Reason why I nurse~

1. I LOVE to Nurse him and he l.o.v.e.s to nurse!
2. It is the food God intended for my baby.
3. Breastfeeding is a time for me to sit down, relax and enjoy my baby.
4. No bottles or pump parts to clean and sanitize.
5. At five months old, Murphy knows what the unclicking of the nursing bra means.
6. Breastfed babies are physically incapable of overeating.
7. It makes me feel good to know I am providing my babies with the best nutritional start in life.
8. Scientists still do not fully understand all components of breastmilk.
It is amazing stuff that can not be perfectly duplicated.
9. Breastfeeding bonds me even closer to my babies.
I am truly Murphy's everything.

Here are a few more pictures of poor Murphy trying desperately to get away from the spoon!
Poor little guy...He won't have to worry about it for a while now...I guess we'll try again in about 2 weeks.

Oh-the irony!!!
I found Murphy's first tooth on Wed. 1-12-2011(5 months 3 weeks old)!
An entire month an a half before Maddie got her first tooth...geez...
