Hand-Embroidered Shirt

This is what I've been up to while Maddie and I had a cold. I've been wanting to give this a try for a while. I found out that it was REALLY easy but a little time consuming. This shirt took 5 1/5 hrs!
I gave Madelyn a haircut this morning....like it?
It's a little short but it's grow out soon...

18 Wks "It's the Final Countdown!"

We are 45.0% of the way there!
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and it weighs almost 7 ounces. He's/she's busy flexing their arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. The baby's blood vessels are visible through its thin skin, and its ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from its head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around its nerves, a process that will continue for a year after it's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
Well I believe we have made or decision...Shane and I BOTH have decided to find out what the sex of this baby is! (just fyi...I believe this is a BOY!)We figured that we could honestly tell people which way is the funnest without being one-sided. And we are also coming into this from Madelyn's perspective, I think she might be able to get ready for baby if it has a name. Her life as she knows it is about to totally change, so we're hoping that this might help her out a little. If she were a little older I don't think that we would be finding out. We are however having a little fun with finding out. When we go to the sonogram we are going to get the sonographer to write down the baby's sex on a card and seal it in an envelope without Shane and I knowing/ seeing the baby's bottom. Right after we leave I am going too take the envelope to my dear friend, Brooke O'Dell's (master chef by night, super mom/woman by day!) for her to look at the envelope and make a cake according to the babys gender. You will not be able to tell by the outside but once we cut into the cake it will be pink or blue tinted! We thought this would be fun for the entire family to see all at once! We will cut the cake with Shane's family that night and ALL family members are going to wear a color shirt according to what they think the baby's gender is!
Sounds like fun right?!?!

Totally not my idea, stole it from a friend of Jenny's! But O-well..."Thank you Jenny's friend!"
I am hoping to get a video of us cutting into the cake to post on here for our Family in MS, Otherwise I would have Two VERY angry sisters! HA!

In a way I am really scared to go to this appointment. I'm not so naive to think that every baby is completely healthy. I know that this appointment is when many moms and dads find out that their baby is sick. God has blessed Shane and me with one healthy child and I know he would not give us anything we can't face together and with friends and family. Sorry to be a "Debbie Downer" but I'm more so asking for your prayers as we go take a peek at this VERY active youngin!
If you've not voted yet on our poll than go do so before Monday! Looks like boy is winning.
The title is just for you AllieCat!

We are 42.5% of the way there!

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord -baby's lifeline to the placenta -is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and it's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. Baby Ivey can move its joints, and its sweat glands are starting to develop.

By the way...It's snowing again today! It's very pretty falling! Last night at life group we were talking to friends about how much snow Nashville has seen this year. Randy Bostic moved here in 1988 and said this is the most snow he has ever seen in a season! I think this makes #5 for us!
Not a maternity dress but it works!

Valentine's Day + Wedding =LOVE!

On Saturday afternoon we went to Michael and Emily's Wedding (Michael is the son of Joe and Malinda's dear friends, Sam and Liz Daniel). The wedding ceremony was really beautiful! We loved, loved, loved the music choices! Afterwards we went to the reception. Since Maddie does not understand the word "reception" we told her the Mrs. Liz was having a party! We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner, not to mention Maddie's favorite part...The Cupcakes! When we got home she told us that she wanted to go back to Mrs. Liz's party and that it was "Amazing!"(Mrs. Liz- If you see Maddie soon do not be surprised if she ask you where the cupcakes are!) That is all she has talked about!

Enjoying all of her goodies! Thank You Nana & Pops, Joe Joe & Nino, Addy Grace, and Sophie!

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double its weight and add inches to its length.Right now, the baby is about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. The baby's legs are much more developed, its head is much more erect than it has been, and its eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. The baby's ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of its scalp has begun, though its locks aren't recognizable yet. Baby Ivey has even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, its heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
For Valentines I thought I would wear red!
"There's a baby in mommy's tummy!"~Madelyn
Shane and I went out on a date Sunday night! "What?!?!" Your thinking! You know Shane and I are the biggest football fans ever (being very facetious!) We do like watching college football but that's about it. Now if we had tickets to see a pro game like the Titans, We would definitely go and enjoy it! We have been going to see a movie on Super Bowl night since we got married. I mean, what better night to go see a movie with NO crowd what so ever! We went and ate sushi (for me it was ALL cooked). Then we went and saw Avatar in 3D! It is a must see for sure! Its graphics alone are worth seeing! The story on the other hand was very predictable...It was like Last of the Mohican's meets Ferngully. It was a little strange to hear animated characters saying a few ugly words! HA!
(Baby Ivey is moving around as I'm typing, It knows I was talking about it!)

Happy Valentines Past and Present!

Last night it started snowing so we took Maddie outside to take a very quick picture for Valentines! She was not too happy with us at first but decided that Mommy's silly face was pretty funny!
The little sign she is holding is one I made for her on her first Valentines. If you'll notice my tiny teething baby chewed close to the heart. She was 8 months old;) Yes..I'm one of those moms, I keep everything! I can't help it!!!

My Sassy Girl/ Sleeping Upgrade

So the terrible twos have finally arrived. The past 2 weeks Madelyn has really been trying us. It's not kicking, screaming or even throwing things, she is "smart mouthed". Sassy to say the least! Here are some examples...
Mommy: "Madelyn, please stop opening and closing the refrigerator doors."
Madelyn: "Mommy, Be nice to Mott!" (Mott is what she calls herself)

Madelyn: "I want to color a picture"
Mommy: "It's time to go to bed Maddie, maybe in the morning."
Madelyn: (while tearing up) "You hurt my feelings!"

Mommy: (Madelyn walks out of my closet with my shoes on) "Madelyn can you go put mommy's shoes back in her closet please?"
Madelyn: "You share with Mott!"

She even gets sassy with Elsie(our dog). Elsie had just gotten a drink of water.(She has jowls so they leak a little)
Madelyn: "Elsie! Stop spitting, it's not nice!"
(I laughed a little...)

Daddy: "How about you wear this today?"
Madelyn: "I want to wear THIS dress!"
Daddy: "You only wear that dress to Church."
Madelyn: "You don't be bossy Daddy!"
We've been putting her in time-out lately for the talking back. She's just not really too fazed by it! To be honest, Shane and I are a little surprised that she can use these phrases correctly. A couple of weeks ago we signed Madelyn up for school for the fall. She'll be going 3 days a week. I hope by then we can get some of this sassy behavior out of her or else we might be getting some notes sent home!

On to other news..Madelyn is in a BIG GIRL BED!! She is SO SUPER excited! As the Fed-Ex man delivered them she asked him "Do you have my big girl bed?!?!" He looked up at me for an answer. I nodded my head yep! Shane and I put it all together yesterday! She could not stop talking all day about her big girl bed!! She took her first nap in it that afternoon and did really well! Last night we never heard a peep out of her! We are so happy for her! Here are some pictures.

We're 38.2% of the way there!
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces. He's/she's busy moving amniotic fluid through their nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in their lungs begin to develop. Baby's legs are growing longer than its arms now, and it can move all of its joints and limbs. Although the baby's eyelids are still fused shut, she/he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but it is forming taste buds.
(15wk pic)
This baby is REALLY on the move! I can feel it when I'm laying down in the bed or sitting in the bath tub. Shane has even gotten to feel 4-5 real good movements!(It's giving Maddie a run for her money!) I think I'm still in shock about how early I started feeling things. By this time with Madelyn I still would have a few more days before I felt the first flutter and Shane did not feel her move until I was around 18 wks! Crazy!..I know! I'm feeling okay. Still pretty tired. Part of the tiredness is that we can't seem to shake a cold/cough that we've passed to each other. (We're a pretty pitiful crew!) Needless to say...I'M READY FOR SPRING!
Curse you Punxsutawney Phil! Being from Mississippi, I thought I'd NEVER say this...
